Tennessee SC's Tanner Dietrich competed this past month representing the U17 U.S. National team and won the Aegean Cup in Turkey. Tanner recorded minutes against Scotland, France and played a full 90 minute game against Norway. Tanner is in residency at IMG in Bradenton, Florida. He trains in the morning with the team and attends classes at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School in the afternoon. He is beginning his second cycle with the residency program, a massive accomplishment.
Since 1999, the Residency Program has given rise to some of the best U.S. players in the world. Many have become professionals in Major League Soccer and in Europe. A few notable residency players who have gone on to play for the full U.S. National team are Jozy Altidore, Michael Bradley, Landon Donovan and Eddie Johnson. The U17 U.S. National team is coached by Richie Williams.
With two players in our club representing the Men's and Women's U17 National teams (Tanner and Karlie Paschall) we are very fortunate to have evidence for our younger players to set high goals and see first hand what can happen. The guidance and instruction from our coaches and staff is impressive. Both players have credited members our staff with their development.
*As a club it's important to focus on all levels of soccer development not only the top end. It is a great accomplishment for our staff and these players to reach the pinnacle of amateur soccer. If you are a parent, coach or manager and have a great story or news information we can share with our club please email: ED@tennesseesoccerclub.org
