Success is no accident. It is haed work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do. – Pele
The vision of a champion is someone who is bent over, drenched in sweat, at the point of exhaustion, when no one else is watching. - Anson Dorrance
Failure happens all the time. It happens every day in practice. What makes you better is how you react to it. - Mia Hamm
A champion is someone who does not settle for that day's practice, that day's competition, that day's performance. They are always striving to be better. They don't live in the past. - Briana Scurry

With the tie to Concorde-Fire, TSC 17 advanced to the championship game against CSA ECNL U14, the 2012 North Carolina state champions. In the finals, neither team could find the back of the net with both teams defense stepping it up whenever the other team had scoring opportunities. For their first game Saturday, TSC 17 played the 99 Lady Lobos Rush Blue and won 2-0. In their second game, TSC 17 played a very talented team and the 2012 IN State Finalist, Hoosier FC 98-99 in a very well played game and won 2-0. On Sunday, TSC 17 played JB Marine Schneider (MO) and won 1-0. In the finals, TSC 17 played their first team from the state of Texas, Liverpool 99 Girls (TX-N) and won the championship with a score of 3-0. Tennessee SC 17 attended the CASL Girls Shootout in Raleigh, NC over the weekend of November 3-4. The tournament is ranked 29 in the country by GotSoccer and the 8 teams in the Predator division had 3 USYS Region semi-finalists (GA, OH-S, & TN), 3 state champions (GA, OH-S, & TN), 2 state finalists (FL & VA), and the US Club National Cup XI Champion (FL). For their first game Saturday, TSC 17 played the Premier SC Cobras (MD) in a physical game and prevailed with a tough 1-0 victory. (These 2 teams met at the Jefferson Cup in 2011 and played to a 0-0 tie.) In their second game, TSC 17 played the 2012 US Club National Champions, JUFC 98/99 (FL), in a fast paced game and lost 0-1. (It had been 2 years since these 2 teams have played, when JUFC 98/99 beat TSC 17 0-3 in the finals of the 2010 Atlanta Cup). On Sunday, TSC 17 played the tournament host team, CASL Elite 98/99 (NC). TSC 17 beat CASL 3-0 and JUFC beat the Cobras 5-1. This caused a 3 team tie for first place with CASL, JUFC, & TSC all with 6 points. JUFC & TSC advanced on goal differential and TSC 17 advanced to the finals on least goals allowed. In the finals, TSC 17 played Tophat 17 Gold, GA state champions & Region III semi-finalists. (These 2 teams met in bracket play at the USYS Region III Championships where Tophat won 0-5.) Tophat 17 Gold won the CASL championship with a score of 0-4. Congratulations girls on your performance with this being the second high ranked tournament in less than a month.
Tennessee SC 17 attended the WAGS (Rael Vodicka Memorial) Tournament in the Washington, DC area over the weekend of October 6-8. The tournament is ranked 7 in the country by GotSoccer and the 16 teams in the Cup Flight division had 1 USYS Region champion (PA-E), 3 USYS Region semi-finalist (KY, TN, & VA), 6 state champions (FL, KY, NY-E, PA-E, TN, & VA), 4 state finalists (FL, NJ, NY-E & VA), the US Club National Cup XI Champion (FL), and 1 team from Canada. For their first game Saturday, TSC 17 played YMS Xplosion 98 (the USYS Region I champions & PA-E state champions) in a very exciting game that saw TSC 17 come from behind twice to tie the game and end in a tough 2-2 tie. In their second game, TSC 17 played Loudoun SC 98 Red (the VA state finalists) in a fast paced game played in gusty winds with TSC 17 prevailing in a 2-1 win. (These 2 teams met at the Jefferson Cup in 2011 and played to a 1-1 tie). On Sunday, TSC 17 played Sunrise Sting 98/99 (the FL state champs) needing a win plus winning by 1 more goal than YMS Xplosion vs. Loudoun to advance to the semi-finals. With both games being played on fields side by side, made for a very exciting hour and a half. (TSC 17 lost to Sunrise Sting back in February 0-2 at the Adidas Cobb Classic, so they knew they were in for a battle.) In a very fast paced and physical game, TSC 17 won 2-0. Needing Xplosion to lose or win by just 1 goal so that TSC would advance to the semi-finals, Xplosion defeated Loudon 2-0. TSC and Xplosion tied for first place with 7 points, but Xplosion advanced and would eventually win the WAGS Championships. For the tournament, TSC had 2 wins & 1 tie, scored 6 goals & allowed 3, and was the only team to score on the very talented YMS Xplosion team in their 5 games. Congratulations girls.

2012 USYS REGION III CHAMPIONSHIPS OPENING CEREMONY
TNFC 99 Valkyrie finished their spring 2012 season as “semi-finalists” at the USYS Region III Championships played in Greenville, SC on June 15 – 21, 2012. In bracket play, Valkyrie defeated the state champs from Mississippi, BFC 99 Black, 2-0 on Friday. In their second bracket game, Valkyrie lost to the state champs from Georgia, TopHat 17 Gold, 0-5 on Saturday. Even after a tough loss, Valkyrie could make the semi-finals if they could defeat the state champs from Louisiana, MSC Lakers 98/99, on Sunday. After falling behind 1-0 in the first ten minutes of the game, Valkyrie came back and scored 5 unanswered goals to win 5-1. With the win, Valkyrie would have a rematch with the state champs from Oklahoma, Tulsa Blitz United 99 White, which they lost 1-3 at the GIT in November 2011. On Tuesday they met and Tulsa scored shortly after the start of the game and Valkyrie found themselves down again but fought hard and keep the score 0-1 at halftime. Within a few minutes of the start of the second half, Valkyrie tied the game. That would be all of the scoring until overtime. Valkyrie returned the favor by scoring very quickly at the start of the first OT, but Tulsa answered back with a goal to tie the game at 2-2 on the very last play of the first OT. In the second OT, neither team could find the back of the net and the winner had to be decided in PKs. Tulsa won the PKs and eventually lost to the state Champs from Texas-North, Dallas Texans 99, 0-1 in the finals. Congratulations Valkyrie (Tally, Bella, Caroline, Peyton, Wrenne, Meagan, Maeve, Taylor, Kirsten, Ashley, Arielle, Megan, Molly, Jenna, Avery and Coach Nicole) on a great season…state league–west division first place (2x), Tennessee State Champs (2x), and USYS Region III semi-finalists.
TNFC 99 Valkyrie won their second consecutive state championship over this past weekend June 1-3, 2012. Valkyrie (SL West #1) defeated the Lady Flames 99 (SL East #2) 6-0 on Friday and then tied MSC Strikers 99 Premier (SL West #3) 1-1 on Saturday, a rematch of last year’s state championship final. MSC Strikers took a 1-0 lead within the first 10 minutes of the second half, but Valkyrie tied the game with less than 15 minutes left in the game and advanced to the finals with a higher goal differential. Valkyrie played BWSC 99 Premier (SL West #2) on Sunday in the finals and defeated them 3-0. For the 3 games, Valkyrie scored 10 goals and allowed one. In state league and the state tournament, Valkyrie had 7 wins and 1 tie. In those 8 games, Valkyrie scored 30 goals and allowed 2. In the 2 years of state league and the state cup, Valkyrie has 14 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tie (scored 61 goals and allowed 4).
