The Tennessee SC 19 Boys won their first tournament of the season with a roster that included some new faces and new coach Earle Davidson. They competed a year up in the U15 top flight of Tennessee Soccer Club's Battleground Tournament of Champions.
The boys played hard-fought games against four strong teams: Aris FC, Darlington, Huntsville FC, and TUSC, winning three and tying one. It was a great experience for the boys to play older competition. The tournament has helped the 19 Boys prepare for upcoming Premier League, Boys Club Championship, and other competitive events.
Tennessee SC 19 made a strong showing at the USYSA Region III Championships in Baton Rouge, LA, with one win and two ties against the State Champions from Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas-South. The 19s beat the Arkansas Comets, 3-0, on Friday afternoon. They tied WSA, 1-1, on Saturday, despite dominating shots and shots on goal. On the final day, needing a win, they held a 1-0 lead until the fourth minute of stoppage time in the second half.

Congratulations to Luke Bernatavitz for being near the top of the goal-scoring table. (See below.)
While the boys were disappointed with not advancing, they made a name for themselves in Region III. They are already looking forward to playing Premier League Central games against teams from Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, starting in August.
A special thanks goes to Coach Eric Bossman for continuing to develop the boys and helping build an outstanding program.
Congratulations to the Tennessee SC 19 Boys for winning the 2014 Tennessee State U13 Boys Division 1 State Championship. Throughout the weekend, the boys did not give up a goal. They capped the weekend with a hard-fought game against Chattanooga FC and winning in penalty kicks, 3-2.
The boys will be traveling to Baton Rouge, LA, for the USYSA Region III Championships later this month. They will also compete in the Central Division of the Southern Regional Premier League next fall.
Tennessee SC 19 Boys traveled to Decatur, Alabama, for the 2014 Open Cup and won the very competitive U13 Boys Gold division. The boys played teams from Mississippi, Louisiana, South Carolina, and Tennessee. They went undefeated in the preliminaries over the weekend before winning an exciting final in PKs on Sunday evening.
The weekend was an excellent learning environment for the boys. Additionally, the win gives them an automatic entry into the 2014 Copa Rayados tournament, in San Antonio, TX, co-hosted by Mexican professional club CF Monterrey Rayados.
