Collins Named ECNL Girls Conference Co-Player of the Year
FRANKLIN, TN – Katie Shea Collins, a member of Tennessee Soccer Club’s 2005 ECNL Girls Team, was named by Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) as the Co-Player of the Year for the Ohio Valley Conference Thursday afternoon.
Collins was instrumental in helping lead her 2005 TSC team to the regular season conference championship, earning a berth into the ECNL National Championships.
“Katie Shea is not only a top-quality player, but also an amazing teammate. She is a fierce competitor with a servant heart,” said 2005 Head Coach Ronnie Woodard. “I am thrilled that she was recognized for the impact she made on our team this year.”
No stranger to success on the field, Collins was selected to the US Women’s National Team U-17 Pool, as well as the Olympic Development Program (ODP) 2005 National Team which traveled to the Netherlands to compete.
“I’m extremely honored and humbled to receive this unexpected recognition,” said Collins. “A huge thank you to all my friends, coaches, and parents who have continuously helped me strive to get better every single day!”
“We are very proud to have Katie selected as the player of the year,” ECNL Director Greg Warden commented. “She thoroughly deserves this award for the season she had.”
In all, 18 members of TSC’s Girls and Boys ECNL teams were named to the All-Conference squads.
